A special meeting of the Stratton Village Board of Trustees was called to order at 7:00 pm on Monday July 14, 2025 at the Village Office by Chairman S. Hanes. Notice of the meeting was posted in three public places: Village Clerk’s Office, MNB Bank Stratton, and United States Post Office Stratton. Availability of the agenda was communicated in the advance notice. A poster of the “Open Meetings Act” was clearly visible on the wall, and Chairman Hanes directed the attention of those present to the poster. All proceedings hereafter shown occurred while the meeting was in session.
Present: Trustee S. Hanes, Trustee J. Stewart, Trustee H.A. Windecker, Trustee K.R. Moore. Also in attendance were: Utilities Superintendent M. Petersen, Assistant Utilities Superintendent C. Stout, Clerk T. Hedrick, and members of the public Justin McCorkle, Sabrinna Morgan, Jake McLain and Scott McDonald.

NEW BUSINESS:
Utilities Superintendent applicant was discussed. Motion by Hanes and seconded by Stewart to hire Justin McCorkle as Village Utilities Superintendent. Roll call: Ayes: Hanes, Moore, Windecker, Stewart. Nays: None. Motion carried. Salary and training were discussed. Motion by Stewart and second by Hanes to set the starting wage for McCorkle at $23.00 per hour with the stipulation that McCorkle accepts the position. Roll call: Ayes: Hanes, Moore, Windecker, Stewart. Nays: None. Motion carried. McCorkle indicated that he would accept the Utilities Superintendent position and starting date was discussed.
Chicken Ordinance was discussed. Member of the public Jake McLain spoke in favor of allowing chickens. Limitations on location and amount of land to allow chickens were discussed. Trustee Stewart will review previous ordinances. Motion by Hanes and second by Stewart to table chicken ordinance review for the next regular meeting. Roll call: Ayes: Hanes, Moore, Windecker, Stewart. Nays: None. Motion carried.
Chairman Hanes declared the meeting adjourned at 7:41 pm.
The next regular meeting of the Village Board of Trustees will be held on Monday July 21, 2025 at 7:00 pm at the Village Office.
