Mosquito Spraying

The Village would like to remind all residents that as part of our procedure to control the mosquito population and reduce the spread of harmful viruses the Village may implement spraying insecticide treatments by ground. Decisions on treatment time and dates are determined as conditions arise and application is dependent on a number of factors, including weather conditions. Notification of treatment is announced as soon as available. Residents in the Village limits of Stratton can subscribe to our notification list and receive an email, phone call, or text notification for adult mosquito treatments by registering at the Village Office. Although chances of experiencing any health effects from spraying are quite low, the following may help reduce possible exposure: If possible, remain inside or avoid the area whenever spraying takes place and for about 30 minutes after spraying; Close windows and doors during spraying; If you come in direct contact with the spray, wash effected areas. To help prevent the need of spraying residents can help by eliminating standing water on their property, empty and change water in bird baths, fountains, wading pools, or potted plants, and keep swimming pool water treated and circulating.
